Are you getting cold water at the kitchen sink?

Are you getting cold water anywhere?

No water of any kind from any taps upstairs and only cold water from downstairs which I realise now doesn't come from the same tank. Only a small amount of water in the water in tank in the attic, not filling at all, in which is why there's none in the toilet cisterns. The ballcock in the water tank seems to be OK and there are no obvious leeks.

If you can engage the ballcock in the water tank then engage it a few times and see if that frees any debris that may be caught up in the ballcock.

Other then that the ballcock assembly may be clogged (or the shutoff before the ballcock).

See what you can do to investigate the shutoff before the ballcock and then see if you can gain access to the ballcock washer if possible.

Let me know how you make out...

The ballcock has been engaged and the tank seems to be filling with water very slowly. Its 12.40 am here so going to bed and hope things are better in the morning.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Maryteresa:

Ballcock assembly needs to be cleared of sediment/debris and ballcock washer/mechanism needs to be replaced.
