Do I have a slab leak?
Some times when I walk from my kitchen to my hallway I can feel that the floor is hot through my tile in the kitchen, and also through my hardwood in the hallway. My water heater is located in my attached garage, and this morning my wife noticed water coming from under our garage door. Is this a sign of a slab leak, and if it is what do I need to do in order to repair it at a minimal cost?

Call Slab Leak Detection Service. They will come and tell you if you have, or don't have, a slab leak.

Slab leaks are messy and expensive. It is not the plumbing work itself, but all the other work that needs to be done to access the leak and replace flooring afterwards.

But you may do your own, simple test, yourself:

    1. Mark where the warm spots are
    2. Turn off gas to the water heater. Turn off hot water circulating pump (if you have one )
    3. Open hot water faucet in tub to release pressure from hot water side
    4. Leave it like that over night
    5. When you get up in the morning, go to the spots that used to be warm. Feel if they are still getting warm.
