    Hello m:

You have to sue them and win a judgment. WITH the judgment, you'll be able to file a lien.

We need more details. Why do you want to file? How do they own you money? Did you win a judgement?

    Hello Scott:

The OP apparently has a note that he wants secured by the house. I found out by his other post, as I'm sure you will shortly too.

I've merged your two threads. Please don't post questions on the same issue in different places. If you need to post a follow-up, use the Answer This Question options.

You take a copy of the promissory note to the county clerk and have it recorded as a lien on the property.
