Questions about the treatment of employees at my company.
Hello, and thank you to anyone who can answer any questions regarding a few questions that I have about the company that I work at.
I am a restaurant manager, I have been at the place that I work for a little over 2 years. The following things that have happened have happened to me, and other managers where I work. Are the following things that the company that I work legal? I live in Ohio.
1.) I am a salaried manager. As a salaried manager, if I work over 40 hours a week, I get nothing extra in my check, but if I work 39 hours, they dock my pay.
2.) I went on vacation last year. At the time I was an hourly manager. When I came back from vacation, they changed my status from hourly to salary without my consent.
3.) If a manager takes tables to help a server who is overwhelmed, the manager is not allowed to keep the tip. The tip is deposited at the end of the day not as a "tip" but as a "sale."
I've read the employee handbook and there is nothing in there that says anything about these issues.
Thanks to all who can give me some answers.
