Mother won't pay tuition anymore, how to get the money?
    Hey everyone!

As of right now I am attending Mount Carmel College of Nursing. As a branch off that, I also go to Columbus State Community College to take classes that MCCN doesn't offer (such as electives).

My parents are, and have been for me and my two older sisters, the ones who pay the tuition and manage the fees and all of that good stuff. (I will eventually pay them for it, but as of right now they take care of it). I work at a dry cleaners making $7.00 an hour. I can assure you that I do not have much money. (I pay for clothes, food, gas, and lately Christmas gifts which has done me in). Don't get me wrong, my parents have taken on a HUGE burden by helping me out with this, and I do not know what I would do without them.

Okay, I have two english electives that I have to take at CSCC next quarter, payments due December 30th. ($636.00). I called my mom and asked her if that would be okay if I scheduled those classes, and she said "Valerie, I cannot pay for these classes for you. You will have to come up with the money by then, or not take them." Mind you, my schedule at MCCN is already designed by the staff, and I am required to take these classes to remain full time and not lose my scholarships.

So, I kind of waited for her to say.. "just kidding" "april fools" ANYTHING. But no, she was serious. So I said "okay", and got off the phone. Called my dad (they are divorced, and he deals w/ my doctor payments and books, not as much the tuition), and he doesn't understand why she is being like this.

I texted her and said, "Mom, I'm a little worried. You said that you cannot pay for these classes, which I understand, but I'm not sure I will even make $636.00 by December 30, so I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?", and she simply said, "borrow money?".

Okay. So that brings me here. I am more than willing to save up all my pennies and dimes to do whatever I can, but I don't know what to do. I need someone to co-sign for a loan, and I have already pulled out all the scholarships. Is there any other grants/scholarships I can use by December 30? Anything would be appreciated, I'm at a loss right now.

    Thanks for reading this

So you can't take those classes till you fisnish the others, You do what you can afford. Are you using the Student Loans at this, have you talked to finicial aid department in your school.

But you may just not be able to take the additional classes right now.?
So if you normally pay her back, you don't go this semester save up the money you would normally pay her back with and then you have the money for the next semester.

I agree with Fr_Chuck... talk to the financial aid department... inquire about student loans, a bit late for this next quarter, but at least you can get things going for furture terms, ask your bank about a personal loan (use the bank as a last resort, but your mom or dad may co-sign for you), see if you can work more hours or get a part-time temp job to come up with the extra money, maybe just take one of the classes this next quarter, or just put it on hold for this next quarter until you can save the money.
