In the state of Georgia, what is considered child abandonment? Does the child have to be yours or just one that was left in your care?
Child Abandonment is leaving a young child that was in your care without any supervision. If you were responsible for the child and left the child unsupervised, you could be prosecuted.
I've merged the two threads. But I think you need to more fully explain the circumstances here. Child Abandonment is a CRIMINAL charge. Child abandonment may be used as grounds to get parental rights terminated. But in that case, its definition is having no contact at all for a period.
