A remote for ceiling fan for pre-installed
I had a ceiling fan (westinghouse) installed in a bedroom that has no light switch. The fan works great and so does the light (using chains). I want to add a remote so if we come in the room in the dark it is not so hard to find the light. All the remotes I have found you need to drop the whole fan to put it in. Is there one that can be put in where the light kit is attached to the fan. (this was added and not part of the original fan) if there is one like that who makes it an where might I find it. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to say you will have to "drop the fan". It's not that hard. The remote kits that mount in place of the light kits are brand-specific and Westinghouse doesn't offer them to my knowledge.

I just installed a Hunter Ceiling fan 52 inches with a remote. The remtoe doesn't have a battery. How can I start the fan without a remote? I pull the chains to start fan or lights but it doesn't work? Where can I find the battery? It's 12 volts 3A I guess.

    Thanks

More remotes use a standard 9v battery available anywhere.
