My daughter has asked me to explain how to do this, providing the answer is not a problem but explaining the way it is solved is (it's been a while since I was in education), can anyone explain simply.
2x+1=3x-6
Thanks in advance

OK so first you need to get x on only one side. Subtract 2x from either side.
so you get :
1=1x-6
then you want to add 6 to both sides to determine what x is worth
7=1x
from there divide both sides by 1 (because 1x)
7=x or x=7
If that's hard to follow of you have questions let me know
Thanks that's a great help
no problem. I just hope I explained it well enough that you can solve other equations too.
