    Venting whirlpool duet dryer
I am planning on purchasing the whirlpool duet steam washer/dryer set today. In doing the research someone told me that you need to have a 6" vent pipe in either alluminum or flexible. My current vent is 4" and it is in the basement. Cutting a larger vent hole to the outdoors will be difficult the way it is currently configured. Any one know if this is true that I need a 6" vent pipe? I cannot find it in the specs I have seen on line for this product. Thanks!

I've installed these before and a 4" vent should be fine. The one thing you do need to look into for the venting though is what material you are supposed to use. All of the ones I've ever installed called for rigid, metal venting.

This kind of piping on the inside:

Connected to something like this on the outside:

    Hope this helps,
