Hampton Bay Fan Light Dimming Problem
    Hi,

I recently installed a new Hampton Bay ceiling fan. Everything worked perfectly for the first 3-4 weeks and then the lights started acting up last night. It started as the lights went bright-dim-bright-dim... and then the lights finally stayed dimmed while the fan is operating perfectly fine.

When I installed this fan, it only has 3 wires, hot, neutral, and ground. It comes with a remote and does not have dimming switch for the light. I checked all the bulbs and they all seem fine (all 3 bulbs are dimmed).

Can anyone help me as to what might be the problem? Like I said, the fan is operating just fine, but the lights are dimmed??

    Thanks in advance.

Hello, I have a similar problem with a HarborBreeze fan. We had our house rewired and the fan installed about a year ago. When we left on vacation a couple of weeks ago, it was fine but when we returned it was dimmed permanently. Our friend stayed at our house while we were gone and she said it was that way when she arrived the day we left? Any ideas how to troubleshoot this or what could be wrong?

OK, let me see if I understand correctly: the lights are dimmed, and/or dimming, on your fan(s) but the remotes do not have a "dim" function?

If the lights are dimming off and on without anything being pushed on the remote, try resetting the dip switches:

If they are permanently dimmed, presumably the receiver has failed and needs to be replaced. But remember, Hampton Bay fans are under warranty so take them back to the store!

Actually, my wife found out by accident (not mentioned in the manuals) that the fan is equipped with dimming on the remote. There is just one button on the remote for the light switch and apparently, if you just hold down that button, the light dims/undims.
