My husband has a credit card & savings account with HDFC bank. He had asked for a settlement on his credit card, so he didn't make 2 months payment. The bank has put a lien on his savings account & have taken out the money without informing us. Do they have the authority to do so..?

If it's within the same bank they may be able to. Take a look at the paperwork from the credit card side. They may stipulate that they can in the terms & conditions.
