Dear HVAC Technician -
How can I increase the blowing power from some of the vents into the house?
Some of the vents blow just fine, whereas others hardly blow at all (just a trickle of air even when the register in wide open).
Thanks,
- Nick

You most likely have adjustable registers. You will need to close down the ones that blow well. Looking to find a happy medium. Just play around with adjusting registers(one at a time) until they all seem to put out the same amount of airflow.
You may also be able to up the blower speed on the furnace. However, this will only cause greater airflow from the already sufficient regesters, and a little more airflow from the lacking registers. Will still need to adjust registers to balance out the system. Hope this helps. Please let me know how it works out.
Check your ducts. Depending on the design you may have dampeners that are closed or you could have some that are disconnected. Simply changing the speed on your blower may not be a good idea in your application.
If your house has flexable ducts get into the attic and see if you can find some joints that have come apart. This is just a suggestion.
dampeners:
Sounds like something for my automatic rug shampooer or a cute gizmo to help give a dog a bath.
Dampers:
Registers can close partially, but there are usually Dampers located along the supply branches where the air flow to a room is set hidden from view. These are set up by the contractor for air balance.
The registers USUALLY supply an on/off function.
Has this always been a problem, or something new?
