Can I check a solenoid with a ohm meter?
My lawn mower click one time upon turner the key,Thinking that I had a solenoid problem I removed it from the mower. I have since found this web site and now I am not sure. I have a volt meter and I was thinking I could test the switch with it.

    HELP:confused:

    KISS

Your confused. Removed solenoid, test switch?

The solenoid is a fuel cul and therefore when off it stops the flow of gas. It typically needs 12V when the mower is on.

Testing the solenoid is MUCH more difficult. You can easily test if it's bad, but not if it's good. If it has a high resistance, it's bad. If it's low, it may or may not be.

It's mechanical and therfore influenced by friction. You need to observe the plunger with and without power and you need to feel for friction.

Are talking about the starter solenoid?

I think that will clear up the confusion.
