    Certificate of relief
I have a felony conviction, I want to get a license for land surveying in nys. Is this job barred for me? And will a certificate of relief , certificate of good conduct or a certifcate from dissability help me?

    Hello a:

I don't know if you can get a license. You need to go to the website of the bureaucracy who issues those licenses. I would think they'd have the qualifications for a license listed there. If you MEET the qualifications, then you do. If you don't, then you don't.

SOME agency's have an appeals procedure should your application be turned down. That ought to be listed there too.

I don't know whether a "certificate of relief" will do any good. I don't know what that is, or who would write it. Same thing with a certificate of good conduct. I don't know of anybody who writes those, or who would accept them. I don't think the fact that you're disabled matters at all.

If the DO have an appeals procedures, instead of using those things you mentioned, I'd have an attorney.

You have to pass a background check and qualify for liability insurance - your original conviction is what will be looked at, not a certificate of relief or good conduct. If you are serious I would get an Attorney working on this now and see what he/she can do.

I don't think this is something you can successfully do yourself.
