I finally got my deck straightened out but the replacement belt I got from ACE hardware seems too long (original # 754-0371A). They gave me a belt numbered 954-0371A and told me it was the same belt. Now I have to drop the deck to change the new belt out with the correct one. My question is did ACE give me the correct belt and if the belt is correct, then why does it seem too long? The 954 belt does not even fit into the pulley groove very well. Any help is appreciated. The mower is a Yard machine 600 series 42 inch deck 16.5hp Briggs

Ace is not the best place for parts... they do sell mtd's... but from my opinion don't know much. The two belts are numbered differently because they are different.

Thanks... I hate the local ACE mostly because we always arrest the owner's son for dope... I'll go get my money back and head to another store... since buying this belt I have discovered another parts shop down the road... thanks again!
