Do you think I need to lose some weight?
o.k. here's my problem... sometimes I feel pressured to lose weight because I feel "fat". I know I'm not but sometimes I think I'm fat. I'm 5ft 4in tall and I weigh 146lbs. Do you think this is a healthy weight? And about my other problem about thinking I'm fat, what should I do about that? I don't want to become anorexic but I think I'm going down that path already, what should I do?:(

What is fat? The average size for women in the US is 10-12.

I think at your height and weight you are fine, but it is what makes you comfortable. It's how you carry yourself and how you are around people.

Healthy eating and exercise is always good no matter what your weight is.

Anorexia is a mental and self esteem issue.
If you feel you may be heading that way, then seek professional help to assist you with eating disorders.

    Good luck.

This is something to be discussed face to face with your doctor. Feeling fat, and being fat, are two different things. How old are you??

    Dear Purple

Look at this as a project to become more healthy, you may need to lose a few pounds, but going the anorexic route is destructive.

I am 44 and 5 6 and weigh about 130 now, I would like to lose about 10 lbs to feel healthy.

I have struggled with my weight my whole life, it is so hard. My advice to you is to watch portions, stay away from fast food, eat less meat and dairy, and just start with MOVING. Movement is the key to weight loss, start slowly so you don't hate it and want to quit in two days. We owe it to ourselves to be fit and trim and healthy, no body else.

As easy as marching in place during commercials, walk the dog, get into a routine so you don't even think about it.

Drink water. Think of yourself as a beautiful plant, you would give it clean water everyday not bacon or french fry grease.

    Good luck, eat your veggies!

I do all of that stuff already and I didn't say I'm anorexic, I just want to lose some weight without becoming anorexic. Thanks anyway:)

What I mean here is I want to lose some weight but I don't want to get obsessed with it to the point I'm anorexic. Any suggestions of what I could do to lose some lbs?

Do you drink pop? If so you could cut that out of your diet and replace it with water. I'm just thinking little things because it doesn't sound like you need to make a drastic change or anything

I only drink pop at parties and I usually limit myself to like one. Plus I prefer water even at restaurants I ask for either water or tea. Thanks any way :D

Well for teenagers, the main way to lose wight is exercise. Going on diets might have potential long term dangers because your body is constantly changing and developing during puberty. A HEALTHY diet of course, is different. One that makes you go hungry is bad, but one that keeps you full with healthy food is best. And EXERCISE!! It is the best way to keep you healthy longterm and help you lose weight if you so desire. Remember though, there is a limit to everything, so make sure you're doing it properly.

Here's a little tip also... let's say you ate breakfast a few hours ago and you were hungry again... go for a jog or better yet if you want to do more fat burning than cardio do some curl up or squats because when your body is feeling hungry and you exercise it burns a lot more fat because it needs carbohydrates. But don't do it and not eat later on because that is very bad for your body.

I'm 5"4 and 135 and my doctor said I needed to lose some weight
    So I currently am
    If this helps,
I/m basically eating 1,000 calories a day or less ( you're supposed to have 2,000)
And exercising for an hour 6 days a week

I want to be at most 110 late February

    No lighter than that

    Good luck!!

I feel the same way. I'm 5'8 and 175 lbs. I'm comfortable and proportionate, but I'd still like to lose weight. I walked everywhere during the summer, but it's so cold where I live now that I just drive everywhere. So, maybe join a gym class or cut out the junk food. It's about living a healthy lifestyle opposed to losing weight.

You can't really do that if you're in school though.

Get on that workout routine if you think your "too big" it's OK to feel bad about it because that's natural for woman just don't go down the Anorexic stuff.
