    Programmable thermostats
I have a Honeywell manual thermostat and I want to put in a digital programmable thermostat. My manual stat has 6 wires and my new programmable has 5 ports, do I use all of the wires or do I need a different thermostat?

Do you have a heat pump system? Or two stage forced air system? Doenst look like your knew thermostat is compatible with your system. Please let me know what type of system you have.

Okay, Im not asking about the thermostats. Im asking what type of system the thermostat is controlling. The thermostat has to be compatible with the actuall heating/cooling system. If you aren't quite sure what type of system you have, I would recommend calling for onsite help. Good luck and please let me know how it all works out.

6 wires is usually a heat pump thermostat.
The honeywell you have only has 5 places for wires you say so the thermostat you are trying to use will not work.

BTW I have the Honeywell master catalogue that goes back 50 years and the number you posted for the old one is not in it. Sorry
