The overflow valve on my hot water heater dripps several times a day. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Are you talking about the T&P valve see the image below, if this is what you are talking about.
1. Check your water heater gas valve to be set at approx. 120 degrees F, see the image below
2. Check your water pressure to be between 45 to 60 psi.

The T&P valve will open if the Temp. or pressure is high, if both OK replace the T&P Valve, if you need help with replace te T&P valve get beck to us, Good Luck.

Have you noticed your hot water being a lot hotter than ussual? If not, most likely you need to replace temp, press relief valve. I have found that 90 percent of the time, it is a faulty tp valve.

Make sure the water degrees, and the mass.

Mass? You do mean pressure don't you? Volume has nothing to do with it

Hello, adjust your temp. setting to a couple noches above warm, and change out the t&p valve.

Yes, you will most likely have to replace the T&P valve. The old one will not read pressure properly any longer.

Do you have a sprinkler system installed? Tom

If this is an electric water heater you could have a shorted heating element and even though the thermostat is not calling for heat the heating element is heating with 120 volts where the other end of he element may be grounded.
Let me know if it is electric.

not that a shorted element is producing water so hot it trips the T & P valve. Had this been the case the T & P valve would be discharging steady as the element churned out suyper hot water. Besides how hot can a 4500 watt element get on 120 volts? Nah Let me! I think if the water was so hot it tripped the valve he would have mentioned it. Regards, tom
