    Dryer keeps shutting off
    8 year old dryer Whirlpool started turning itself off. Worked fine until yesterday. Yesterday I was able to open the door and close it and restart it, but not anymore. Today it will start and shut off within 2 or 3 seconds.

    Does it take much effort to open the door if you've closed it? In other words is it actually latched when it closes?

    Nightengale3760 - More then likely the dopor switch has gone all the way out ;; IF you have a ( VOLT OHM meter, One that is capable of handling 220 VOLTS,) YOU could test the sweitch yourself ;;; Here is the way to test it ,Step by step;; ;; Also you may have knocked it out of adjustment;;
    You will find the door switch under the top cover. It is easy to spot because it will be a button or lever mounted ;; )K #1- Disconnect the power cord , ( Don't WANT TO LIGHT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHT ) #2 REmove the top of the cabnit , Now to test it ,SET the meter to RX1 scale , Clip the meter probs to the lead terminals ,DISCONNECT The leads (WIRES ) and watching the meter and closeing the switch with your finger ;; If the metyer reads ( ZERO OHMS ) the switch is good ,if there is a high reading then it is bad and needs replaced;
    IF the door does not close and latch , the unit will NOT start at all :; I hope I ha ve helped you out ; Have a better day tomorrow and GOD BLESS ;;FG.B.E.
