    91 accord cold start issue
    I replaced my thermostat, fast idle vale, and electronic air control valve, brand new coolant, I did everything I can think of even checked for vaccumm leaks and have none, and on cold mornings I start my car and it doesn't go to a high idle like it should after all that. :mad: Anyone have any ideas on what else makes your car idle high when its cold the only thing I can think of is the air boost vavle on the side, other than that I need some help on what to do. :confused::confused:

    Clean/replace the Idle Air Control Valve, connector, and hoses. I would also clean the throttle plate and upper and lower ports, after removing the air intake.

    Would you be able to explain more in depth about the steps for the cold start one on the first link and how to check all that

    1. Remove intake air duct from throttle body.

    2. Start engine.

    3. Place finger over lower port in throttle body and ensure there is air flow with the engine cold (engine coolant temperature below 86 degrees F). If not, replace the fast idle thermo valve and retest.

    4. Warm up the engine (radiator fan comes on).

    5. Check that the valve is completely closed. If not, air suction can be felt at the lower port in the throttle body. If any suction is felt, the valve is leaking.

    The fast idle thermo valve is factory adjusted and should not be disassembled.

    I have done all of that and its all working but what other components make my car jump to a high idle on cold starts because it has a really hard time and doesn't do it right away like it should.

    The IACV is also crucial. When you disconnect the IACV connector, does the idle speed drop almost in half? If not, I suspect the IACV is bad--clean the connector first. Beyond that, the problem could reside with your ECM, which controls the IACV.

    I suspect your IACV is gummed up and needs cleaning/replacing. Easy job to clean.

    Ok so can you explain to me more about the ecm I'm thinking it's that because I have done nothing with that.

    Everything sounds normal--I'm not sure where the problem is.

    You may want to replace the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor. It affects injector pulse width, when the engine is cold. Richer air/fuel mixture when cold, leaner when hot.
