Maurice Strong ? Just the name is enough to discredit anything else in the content of the posting . The guy is an international criminal like few others . He was elbow deep in the oil for food corruption.

Tongsun Park briber for Saddam Hussein personally cut a check to Strong to influence UN policy towards Iraq . Park was given cash by Iraqi deputy prime minister Tariq Aziz, $1 million in a cardboard box to be used in the regime's campaign to win favourable treatment from the UN.

Park then took the cash to a Jordanian bank in a plastic bag where he deposited it before writing "Mr. M. Strong" on a check for $988,885 to purchase a stake in Cordex Petroleum Inc., a company controlled by the Strong family. Strong, served as a close advisor to UN SecGen Kofi Annan at the time . When Strong endorsed this check, he was serving as a top aide to Kofi Annan, coordinating U.N. reform. Strong had just finished a stint in 1996 similarly advising Boutros-Ghali on reform issues.

Among the "reforms "made was the consolidation of Oil for Food under a single newly created unit, called the "Office of the Iraq Programme," reporting directly to the secretary general and out of the perusal of the Security Council .

As a result ,the UN turned a blind eye on Saddam's skimming over $10 billion dollars from the Oil for Food Program ;undermining it's sanction regime to complete ineffectiveness. $8 billion of the theft was the result of smuggling, which the UN was aware of and failed to stop.Annan presented report after report , based on information filtered selectively from his office, urging not only that Oil for Food continue, but that it be radically expanded in size and scope, with Saddam allowed to spend billions in relief funds to revive his oil industry. (even though the intent of the program was to provide food and medicine to needy Iraqi children) .As Oil for Food grew, the corruption grew too, into multibillion dollar kickbacks, smuggling, and payoffs.

Strong of course denies any connection.

    Thanks Tomder
To me it sounds like the roots of what conspiracy theorists have been saying for years.
