    What to do?
On Oct. 4th my wife, daughter, brother in law and myself were in a car accident that resulted in my brother in law and myself being airlifted and himself and my wife having surgery. We have been patient and waited to see what the other persons insurance offers us before we seek legal counsel. Is this a smart move or should we contact legal help? The other family that is involved and has helped us since it was it was their sons fault. Their insurance company has been very helpful also. I don't want to sound greedy but I want a good lump sum for the things that I have been through and have had to endure. We have just been waiting to see what his insurance agent offers us before we go jumping into a court room and have to wait a few years. Just need some advice. Thanks

    Forgiveme

You should contact a lawyer, because to me it sounds like you didn't even summit a notice of claim

Unfortunately waiting to consult with an Attorney for this period is not in your best interest. Anything you have - and will - say/said to their insurance company will be used to make you more at fault and the other party less at fault. That's how it works. Every penny the insurance company doesn't pay out stays in their pockets.

I guarantee you will not be offered anything even close to the "value" of your injuries without legal counsel.

Their insurance company's "helpfulness" has nothing to do with your best interests.

If you are unsure, locate a good personal liability Attorney in your area and discuss your concerns with him/her.

If you want to collect what you term "a good lump sum" you will only get close to your dream figure through the help of an attorney. Working in an insurance defense firm taught me that what you think you'll possibly get settlement wise and what you actually come home with are two entirely different figures. Consult with an attorney and stop talking to the other insurance company. As Judy pointed out above, they are not your friend even if they seem friendly.
