    older payne furnace won't light
I have an older Payne furnace that won't light. The model shows 80UW36-19X2. It has an electronic ignitor. Worked fine last year but won't light this year. Don't know where to start troubleshooting.

Start by checking that you have 120 volts to the unit. Then check to make sure you have 24 volts out of the transformer. Post back with results.

When heat is turned up the switch on top of the gas valve clicks. The gas valve has a lever instead of a knob with 4 settings. The settings are: off, on, pilot, set. On my way to get new voltmeter, mine just quit.

You have to have the valve turned to ON.

Valve is on and there is gas to the furnace.

Have you check the voltages yet.
