    Prolapsed uterus surgery alternative?
    I have a prolapsed uterus (yes I'll tell the whole world) and I am scheduled for surgery. I do not want to have my uterus yanked out. The thought makes me sick. But also the time and pain after surgery. And I can't pick up anything even 3 months after. Is there not an alternative that works besides kegel, which I have used but didn't work.

    I was constipated when I was a child because I was lactose intolerant but didn't know it. So I think that my transverse colon (the large intestine going across the body) is drooping causing the uterus to drop as well. I have been getting "hydro therapy" or better known colonic to help clean it out, but I'm not sure what has happened as I can't see in there.

    I had a miscarriage and a baby 2 years after. Is there any hope for me?? I don't want any one trying to make money with something that doesn't work. I want something that does work.

    You do have an alternative to having your uterus removed. My wife suffered with the same problem and 3 different doctors wanted to do a hysterectomy but she refused. I later discovered an article about a new procedure using mesh to secure the prolapse. She went to see this doctor and had the new uterine sling procedure. That has been over 2 years ago and she has not had the first problem. The only exception is the sling to support the urethra to prevent incontinence due to lifting the bladder. This causes a smaller urine stream and takes longer to relieve oneself.

    The mesh surgery is still surgery. I want an alternative to surgery. For example, first find out why the uterus is prolapsed in the first place and then make a decision. Is surgery the only answer or depending on what caused it in the first place, it may be treated by taking care of what caused it to begin with.

    For example, for me, it is because my transverse colon is saggy which in turn caused the uterus to prolapse. There should be resources for people (specfically women in this case, as men don't have a uterus), to access how to find out why it happened, and then get treatment based on the findings.

    Answers like can the transverse colon go back to a straight across position, after it is cleaned out, if not, then surgery is unavoidable.

    Some people are not aware of hydro-therapy, or better knows as "colonic" this is where you go to a registered colonic specialist. They use water to clean out your colon (large intestine) and this way keeps your colon healthy and hence your body healthy.

    Some women will use a ring that helps to support the uterus. This can be removed and replaced by you.

    It is called a pessary and may be helpful depending on the circumstances.
