When my dad was younger his father went "missing". That is all I know, he went missing from somewhere in northern Indiana gary/chesterton area. I want to know if there are any web sites I can find out more details of the case from. Or is this something I can access at the police department. My dad is a vietnam war vet, with many emotional issues. He will not talk about his father hardly at all. I want to find out more information so my dad can finally have peace.

Let me also mention that if your father does not want to talk about his father, maybe you should not force the issue.
It is possible you want him to have closure, but maybe he already does. Or could it be that YOU want closure?
This is something your father should research if and when he wants to.
I don't think I stated enough information in my previous post. There were police reports filed, and searches done. My grandfather was a career Army man, and was still enlisted when he went missing. He had just gone through a divorce, and simply vanished. The VA never heard from him, he never reported for duty again, and his pension has never been collected or inquired about.
Also I am not trying to force my father to open up about it, but when he is in and out of psychaitric care facilities due to severe PTSD, not only from the war but also from losing his father. He has hallucanations about what has happened to his father, and it was the recommendation of his doctor that I find out any information that might be useful in his therapy. So I am not forcing him to relive his memories, but you try having a father that can not even be a dad or grand dad to his two beautiful granddaughters. I am simply doing everything in my power to find out anything I can to help him.
I would also like to know for my own knowledge. I want my kids to know where they came from.
As far as the VA registry and that site I will try them thanks a bunch !

If this is as critical to you as you indicate - and critical to your father's mental health - hire a Licensed Private Investigator and let him/her use his/her resources.
If your Grandfather simply vanished and the military couldn't find him, I doubt Zabasearch or any other on line site has him listed.
Thank you! Do you know if there are any resources out there to help with funding for this? I know both attorneys and private investigators can be very expensive? I am a nurse that just went back to college so even though I have money, I do not have that kind of money.
