I would like to inquire about the child support age for the state of Indiana. The child has a learning disability. Does it stop at age 18 if the child does not go to college?:confused:

Not in Indiana. For that state its 21. And possibly longer if in college and court ordered. Also with a disability depending on severity it can last a lifetime.

The child is able to walk and talk. She just is slower mentally then the rest of her age. I would assume she would be able to hold a job at some point just not one the requires a high IQ. Does this appear to be a lifelong support? Also would the mom at age 21 have to take us back to court to get it extended longer?

If she has been diagnosed with a learning disability (so that the state recognizes it) then you will be paying until 21 unless for whatever reason she is self supporting and on her own at 18. If it isn't built into your order by then then yes you will have to go back to court at her age of 21 to have it either stopped or continued. What type of job would she be able to hold? Would it be one that pays enough to pay her rent, utilities, and food? If not then you are looking at the rest of your life but if she can do that then it will be stopped.

Yes it stops at 21 unless there is something written into your support order otherwise. So, if for whatever reason it dosen't stop at 21 automatically you will have to go back to court to have it stopped. However, the reason I asked about the job ability is because if she does move out and get a job before then but after the age of 18 it can stop sooner. Also like I said depending on the severity of the disability it can continue longer and if she was diagnosed (the state recognizes it) then did the cp go back to court afterward to have it changed? If so it could already be in your order you will just have to read it.

The support order was written some time ago. It states that child support is effectiuve till the age of 18. However, Indiana has changed now to 21. The courts have not mentioned her having a disability at all. I also wondered since she has a seizure disorder and a non-verbal learning disability, if she is getting like a disability check from the government? Her mother would never tell us though. If she does end up getting some typw of disabilty check wouldn't that count to help her w/her income? I just am disgusted at this worthless mother I have been dealing with. While if she does get a check from the government yes it would help with the expensed however, it won't change your support amount due at all. If your order states that it is to stop at 18 then it should stop at 18 (or graduation from HS which ever is later) unless the cp can show the court sufficient evidence that it needs to continue. If she does go on to college full time that would be a reason or if the cp brings in her proof of disability that could buy her some time. How old is she now?
