    Noisy toilet when flushing
For the past week whenever I flush my toilet it flushes fine but sounds like a horn blowing as the flushing ends. I removed the toilet tank lid to see if I could tell what was happening during the flushing and after I tightened a white bulb, a flush bulb perhaps? the noise has lessened. Any ideas as to what could be the trouble? I may need to call my plumber but just thought I'd ask to see if anyone else has had a similar problem with their toilets.
    Thank you.

    Afaroo:

The image on the right looks like the inside of the toilet tank, the red #1 being the toilet fill valve or bulb. Does this help? I know next to nothing about plumbing. Thank you, Afaroo.

First close the angle stop under the water tank 1/2 a turn and see if the noise stops, if it does you have a loose washer at end of the stem inside the angle stop, if not do the following

Shut the water off to the tank at the angle stop. Take the lid off and remove the three screws from the top of the ballcock and pull up the float ball, rod and plunger assembly. Pry out the rubber washer and turn it over. Before you reassemble the ball cock put your hand over the open ballcock and turn the water on for a few seconds to flush out the supply line. Reassemble and test, good luck.

Hi Dennis and welcome to The Plumbing Page at AskMeHelpDesk.com

Angle stops, (see image)n are located under each fixture, In sinks you'll find them in the cabinet, In toilets they are located under the tank> They are there to shut off the water to a fixture so it can be repaired. Does that answer your question? Tom
