:confused:i do not understand what is the matter with my little chip boy. He used to have a girlfriend but my ex took her and when they were together they seemed to get jealous of each other even if they were both being petted at the same time.. I don't know if that has anything to do with it but basically here's the deal. Chip has no real problem with any strange males or females, he may bark at first because he hears something but will not sit there and freak out uncontrollably barking and growling like he does to only my dad and brother! I have tried having them give him treats and sitting there basically holding him together with both of them but the whole time you can just see it in his face and body language he's only there for the goods... no matter what! If he even thinks he hears my dad or brother he will go off but oh my god if he sees them you need earplugs. I just don't unerstand. Why would he have a problem with those two certain people only? And how am I supposed to fix it? I live with the rents and my dad has given up trying to get chip to like him so now he gets really really upset and pissed off when little chip starts freaking out.

Chip is feeding off their energy. They know that he isn't going to calm down around them, so their body language and attitude project that. You can't lie to a dog.

You dad and brother need to have a more assertive attitude, and Chip needs to be put in his place. He's not the leader, he's the bottom of the totem pole and he needs to be taught that and shown that.

You and your family have to stop treating Chip like a spoiled puppy. He doesn't get treats to do something he doesn't want to do, you're rewarding bad behavior, not encouraging good.

He's a dog, and he needs to be treated as such.

Well, your dog wasn't born with this problem, and that kind of behavior doesn't come out of thin air. Did they ever tease or provoke him? What was their history together?

You are doing all of the wrong things with this poor dog. It will never work to hold your dog and have someone else give him treats. In fact you are only making the situation worse.

There is a lot you need to learn about dogs, because apparently you don't have a clue. Buy some books, do some extensive research, find every resource you need to learn. Gee, did you know that a dog that is fixed is easier to train? Bet you didn't. Did you know that a dog that isn't neutered and you keep on studding out, is at a higher risk for cancer and other health problems? I bet you didn't. Did you know that studding him out greatly reduces his life expectancy? I bet you didn't!

If you aren't willing to find out everything there is to know about your dog, then "give" him to a caring family that will neuter him and do their research with the dogs best interests in mind. Don't make an innocent dog pay for your lack of knowledge!

I grew up with a goldfish pond, and the little goldfish grew to look like koi. It's amazing what they manage to do.

Next time I go home, I'm expecting to find them walking on stilts. Goldfish are no joke.

I don't think the OP liked our advice. After all, there's money to be made for stud services, and some people care more about that money then they do about their pets.

It's irresponsible breeding like this that has the shelters full of unwanted pets.

Breeding is better left to those that know what they're doing, and who care about the dogs in their care. Breeding for money alone, that's a road to ruin, especially for the poor innocent dogs.

I hope the OP comes to her senses.

For christ sakes I want to stud him out, I haven't. Im not doing anything wrong. I only signed up for this crap to figure out his trip on my dad and brother. WHERE is the ing rule book that says you have to know everything and be a ing to breed dogs? THERE isn't one so , you , all .

So you'd rather make subpar breeds for your own selfish needs? Have you looked at animal shelters, at all? There are rescue animals that would love a new home, but instead you're going to stud him out to be sold to homes, which may or may not be their forever homes.

Maybe there is or isn't a book. Just because a dog can hump a female and create a litter of puppies, doesn't mean they should. Just like family members can physically make babies, but shouldn't. They'll make babies with defects, just as you could make dogs with defects. People read about genetics, the back grounds on the dogs. They do it so the puppies that are born will be excellent animals with great temperaments, without known doggy diseases, and health risks.

Another thing you should get your dog tested for an STD. Yes, and STD, who would have thought? A dog we had from the adoption place almost died because of one. It can turn into cancer and that is a hefty bill, I can tell you that first hand.

Try not to be defensive and see what they're saying. I wouldn't want to create more dogs to sell when there are so many dogs/cats/small animals in desperate need of a home. From what I read, more than eight million, yes you read that right eight million surplus dogs and cats are killed each year due to not having a home. Guess who gets to pick up the tab? You do as a tax payer. From what I can recall somewhere in the 300 million area.

In theory, you're not going to make money off breeding pups if you take care of them like you're suppose to. Between vet bills, proper nutrition for the female, I doubt you're going to make a quick buck.

Now, for your dog, there are health benefits in getting him neutered. Neutered males have less prostate problems compared to unaltered males, it's physically impossible to get testicular cancer. He won't roam to find a female in heat, he won't fight for a female in heat, demonstrate aggressiveness, and they're much more calm. If you fix him, he will become more focused on training, and you'll sooner fix your problem with your brother and dad. Obviously the over population issues is a big one.

We were simply telling you that what you are doing is wrong, because yes, it's wrong. Do you wonder why the pups that were born had so many health problems? Because your chi's aren't good breeding stock, and future pups that are born from your chi will have nothing but health problems too. So you are breeding for money, not for the love of the breed, otherwise you'd learn everything you need to learn in order to breed responsibily and have the most healthy pups of that breed that you can.

Breeders do get money for their pups, but the only breed the best dogs of their chosen breed that they can find. A dog with health defects will pass them on to the pups. An inbred dog will pass down genetic problems to their offspring. What you are doing by breeding this dog is creating dogs with health problems, possible birth defects and worse. Then someone buys that puppy, and like you they decide to breed and more pups with more problems are born. And so on and so on. Do you understand?

Nobody is forcing you to read our posts, and yes, we were all very angry when we read your nonchalant post about the pups born with their brains outside their skull and you thinking it was just bad sperm. A real breeder would know not to breed those dogs.

Have you ever been to a puppy farm? I have. Trust me, if you had seen what I saw you would leave the breeding to professionals.
