Size of stepdown transformer for 2400 watt 3.5 hp blender motor
    Dear folks,
I have a 110 v megablender with 3.5hp motor in New Zealand with 220 v power. Yes I know the cycles are different but I figured that one out and it's OK. The blender is 2400 watts.

How big of a step-down transformer [220 to 110] do I need. I was hoping that 3000 watts would be enough but then I hear that there may be spikes and I need a larger transformer. Would a voltage regulator on the transformer help in the spikes coming from starting up the blender? Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Art

Whether the motor is 3 phase or single phase?
