What does the child support order say? It's "usually" 21 unless the child is emancipated.
There recently was another thread about paying the child directly and the overwhelming response was "no." The child still comes "home" and needs a "home" to go back to - and that's what child support is for.
I'll try to locate and post the other thread and you can read the various answers and, I believe, case law.
If he is enrolled in school full time then you will still be required to pay support till he is 21 years. I have known of cases for the support to be allocated to the child for the time that they are away at school (if he lives on campus not at home). I have also seen cases where the amount of support is lowered but still goes to the cp and again I have seen where there is no change (usually when the child lives at home). A lot of it really depends on what is written into your support order but if it isn't addressed then go back to court and ask for a modification if not for anything else just to have the specifics written in.
