I'm in the same boat just at the other end. I'm a father who can't take care of his children (clears lump)... I need to relinquish my rights so their step dad can adopt them and give them the family they deserve but don't know how. All I want is the legal form so we can all move on but I can't find it anywhere... help?
First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.
YOU do nothing. The step-father needs to have an attorney prepare the petition for adoption. Part of that petititon will be the relinquishment of rights for you to sign.
Depending on where you are, you may need to appear in court to affirm your signature.
As scott mentioned you can't do anything and there isn't a simple form to find (which is why you haven't been able to find it). Have you talked to their step father? Does he want to adopt? If he does then he hires an attorney (required of all adoptions) and you will sign the papers that he/she draws up and also as mentioned possibly show up in court to say you don't contest the adoption. However, if the stepdad doesn't want to adopt then there is nothing you can do.
