Hi, new here. I have three valves in my bathroom shower, hot cold and diverter for shower head. I recently replaced all three, they are phiser. Following replacement all worked fine the diverter valve became hard to turn and is not very difficult to open and close. It feels like I'm going to snap something there. Tried removing everything short of the valve again and sprayed WD40 into the valve, the valve remains very hard to turn any advice is appreciated, they're brank new and the H & C valves are fine.

Sorry...

Remove the diverter stem assembly. Re-install making sure that the stem stays in the 1/2 open position throughout the install.

Remove the diverter one more time check all the seals for condition if twisted or damaged replace them and make sure to use some silicon jell for lubrication, good luck.

Very frustrating situation. One other thing, replacing the valves was not a problem, however had a leak narrowed it down to the diverter valve. Opened the wall behind the plumbing in the bathroom to expose and confirm. Had to really bury the valve stem into the fixture to stop from leaking to the point of being concerned about causing a split in the seat. I did use teflon tape on the threads prior to install on all three valves..

I think your packing nut is tighten too much. Undo it 1/4 turn.

If you have hot water leak through the body valve than the problem is your washer or seat.

Close water, remove hot water stem, make sure washer is nice flat and has no debris on it. Put your finger inside the body and feel the seat. Follow the rim of the seat with tip of your finger around its perimeter. If you feel any notch in it , replace the seat. Reinstall stem. Open water.

Let us know how you did...
