Make sure your mic is not muted

    Assuming you are using XP
Double click on speaker next to clock to open master volume and make sure mic is not muted and the volume bar is up about half way, you can change that as you need it

Make sure it is plugged into mic jack and not line out jack

Check sound and audio devices in control panel to see if everything looks all right there

Also in mater volume, uncheck mic boost if checked or uncheck it if it is checked

Try sound recorder in accessories to see if mic works with the sound recorder app that comes with windows
