Song title: Rachel.Who is the artist?
The title of the song is: Rachel

I believe that to be the correct spelling. I suppose it could be "Rachael", but my source tells me that it is "Rachel." It is an older song, not too sure of the date.

I have the lyrics, which I will display here. A friend wrote them out for me, so I'm unsure of how each stanza is supposed to read, so I will write it out as I have it here. If anyone knows the ARTIST, it would be much appreciated! Or, if anyone knows WHERE to find this song, it would be even better. Thanks!

    Lyrics:

Rachel, Rachel I'm just not that strong.
Rachel you know how I feel, I told you
Now so many times, and you're looking
For someone who's made of steel
And I'm not the superman kind.
We all need someone to lean on, and
I never said hat wasn't wrong, but
I can't make it through, always carrying you
Rachel, I'm just not that strong.

Rachel you know what I'm thinking before the
Thoughts enter my head, still now and again
You like to pretend, you ain't heard a
Word that I said, so the net time you
Ask my a question, I'm just going to sing you
This song, cause it's written for you,
Is a thing I can do, Rachel I'm just not that strong.

You needed direction I showed you the route,
You needed protection I though, but wanting
Me always to carry the load, is asking for
More than I got. Now Rachel, you know that
I'm going, the line is frawn plainly to see.
I got my a dream and I got me some schemes
There's no other way I can be. Now Rachel I know
What you're thinking, you want me to take you along
But I won't make it through if I'm carrying you, Rachel
I'm just not that strong. No I won't ake it through
If I'm carrying you, Rachel, I'm just not
That strong, Rachel, I'm just not that strong.

Sorry this answer is so late. I just came across this post.

The singer was David Thompson, from Thunder Bay Ontario. He was born in Kapuskasing Ont and grew up in Farmington Hills Michagon (Detroit) and moved back to Canada to avoid the Vietnam draft (not a draft dodger, as he was a born Canadian), just wanted to get out of the states. David was a great singer and had just two and a half albums done (2 albums and 4 singles + a dozen or so demos).

I know this because I worked with David for 3 years in the mid-eightees. He became a great friend, and we still chat on occasion. He is suffering from a few ailments these days - and unfortunately those days are numbered - but he will always be a great friend and mentor to me!

Strangest thing just happened, the women that this song was written about passed away on November 8th. David Thompson, who sang the song, passed away on the same day!

WeirdAl - Yes, that was spooky. Both died at a young age which makes it even less likely. David was just 60 and died in Southern Ontario (near London) and Rachel was 59 and died in Thunder Bay Ontario.

    Hi there,

I know this is an old feed, but I thought I would take a chance on the topic.
I am trying to help someone find this song, "Rachel I'm just not that Strong" on an album (or possibly a 45 as which it was released). He is not too concerned about the cost but is trying to find a way to purchase the record.

Any information you could provide would be very appreciated.

    Thanks :)
