Hi,why does my elmark ceiling fan(basic 48' 3 blade type)stop on low speed 1 & 2.It works well on high spped 3 & 4.kindly advise, thks:)

It sounds like you have a wall speed control. First off, make certain the pull chain switch on the fan set to hi. If it's not, that can cause what you describe.

Also, there is a trim adjustment inside (on the back of) the wall speed control that sets the minimum speed for your fan. It is usually adjusted so that the fan will still start when the controller is set to 1 and the power is turned on at the breaker or the pull chain or something like that. That adjustment is not something you want to do yourself unless you are comfortable working around live electrical components.

It's PROBABLY dirty or bad bearings, but I need more information to confirm. There are other possibilities.
