So 2 1/2 years I started with court. I want sole custody, ex wants joint. At the time, he was in the midst of a different case, and on hisway to jail for 2 years. It ended with me having temporary sole custody, and when ex got out we were supposed to go to mediation. Well, he violated work release and when he was releasedhe had another case. He will be getting more jail time for the work release violation. I just found out that one monthe after he was released that he had a parole violation (doing drugs and forgetting all other responsibilities). He has committed many felonies, and has a very long record. I am a full time student (almost done), a single mother, I work and volunteer. I WANT this case to be done. Now that he is going back to jail, I am wondering if I should go back to court for sole custody. Is it important to have this finalized?

Depending on your state, extended prison time can be a reason to take a persons right away.
