I received a pay rent or quit notice. The name on it is mine but the address of my apartment, the landlords name and signature as well as the amount owed is incorrect. Does that make it null and void? Who do I contact about the mistake?

To begin with you either pay rent or quit OR go to Court. I don't think any of the points you raised will keep you from being evicted.

Who prepared the notice and doesn't know the name of the landlord - that part is odd.

Wrong apartment number I see, wrong amount I see when I serve papers.

Do you owe back rent?

Yes I do owe past rent,which I am not disputing, but I have had many issues with this land lord.he changed the locks on October 29. And kept going in the apartment and turning off my heat. One day I was ill and stayed home from work and woke up and walked into my livingroom to find him standing there. I expected the notice, but I didn't expect all the info to wrong on it.

Yikes! This sounds like crappy landlord month around here.

All you can do is dispute the eviction, all of the issues. Did you put any of this in writing by any chance?

Eviction varies State to State so if you'd like to post what State you're in somebody will come along (maybe me) with the info.

I am in NY. Upstate. And I was not served with any legal notices prior to when he changed the locks.
