Is this the correct way to wire 2 switches?
    Hi,
I am remodelling my bathroom and I am putting in a new light fixture and fan where they did not exist before, so I am running new cabling as well. If I have two switches in one box, one to control the fan and one to control the light - do I need two separate power lines into the box (one for each switch)? Or can I run one power line and wire it like the picture I made below?

    Thanks!

    Tev

That is mostly correct. In addition to what you drew be sure to connect the ground screws on the switches.

    KISS

I could be assuming wrong: I'm assuming the red is red, not red being ground.

You don't need the red in the way you have wired it since you are using two cables. One for fan and one for light.

What you could do is use a 3 conductor with ground to run to the fixture. The red wire, for instance could be the fan and the black the light with a "shared neutral".

If red is ground then the box, if metal must be grounded and the switches themselves may have ground screws.

Sorry, it looked orange to me when I drew it - I was going for orange as in bare metal copper ground - I probably should have made it green.

    Thanks for your input though!
