    Please explain in more detail in what relationshps are you meaning. Foster parents get custody all the time and are not related?

    We are going to need more information than just that. Such as the state and the relationship between the child(ren) and adult(s).

    You need to say what state you are in and be specific as to what is going on. We have several fairly recent cases in California involving same sex couples where one has parental rights with no bio-connection to the child. Again, I think we all need more information to be of any help.
