Bypassing the garage door photo sensor
My laser light is broken on my garage door opener. I have to hold the wried button until the door completely shuts or it automatically reopens. It opens correctly with the remote but will not close. My Question - can the laser be disconnected so the door will function without holding the button for 15 seconda every time I want to close the garage door?

    John,
Generally you cannot disconnect the "electric eye" on a garage door opener--it is an integral part of the system and will not function without it.

The symptoms you describe can occur if the beam is simply out of alignment. I'd check both sides of the beam for clean lenses and try to align the two sides. This should solve your problem.

    Hope this helps,
