I seem to hear popping in the walls on one side of my house and I think when it does it most often is when wind is blowing towards its direction. I might sometimes hear an occasional popping in the celing too, but is is mainly in the wall and it will come in spurts of like 5 or 6 pops in a row throughout the wall and then take a break. I have seen that this can be foundation settling on other questions, but I was wondering if this could be something else also. House was build in 1994.

What type of siding do you have?

Are there trees near to the home?

Are you in a city environment or in the country side?(animal infestation)

Heat and cold make certain siding expand and contract,trees blowing debris on the side of the house,etc.

A house with a metal or vynal siding sometimes makes a popping noise especially on the side that the sun shines on, it is the siding expending or contracting. Sometimes the cause of the popping is that the siding was nailed on to tight.

I have vinyl siding. There are no trees on that side of the house. I am in a city environment. The sun is shining on that side. It does happen at night times sometimes to.

Typical expansion and contraction.

While the siding is heating up,or cooling down, the nails will be in a fixed position while the siding is moving slightly.

In the top of vinyl siding the nail line has slots to allow this movement.

I don't think you have a problem to worry about,just simply new building materials doing what they do.
