Somehow a program called antivirus 2009 keeps perniciously invading my computer.
I went to control panel and tried to uninstall it but I only get a window saying I have already INSTALLED it. It obviously insists I purchase some program. Just how can I get rid of this bothersome invasion?

I had the same problem a couple of months ago--this program is designed to steal your money from your bank account -- if you have Hotmail down load a program called windows live onecare-its by Microsoft - once downloaded get rid of it. This windows live onecare is good and its free for 3months--

geemarvin - I do not use HotMail but I have downloaded windows live one care as you suggested. They sure want a lot of private information. So far that little window that keeps coming up every 5 seconds telling me that I have a security problem has not appeared. Maybe it will but we will see what happens. Thanks.

By the way, it will not steal money from your bank account unless you agree to buy their software... and you don't need Live One Care to remove it (see thread at above link).

I can't remember what all onecare asks--but I know for a fact that antivirus 2009 will steal money from you if you--its a false program designed by someone to do just that.. anyway when you download onecare--do a complete computer scan on your computer--when its finished scanning your system it should tell you in detail programs on your computer that are no good--it will also ask if you want to get rid of them--the reason I know I call Microsoft in New York and they walked me through it--=

Note that I wrote: "It will not steal money from you unless you agree to buy their software" --- at which point they have your credit card details.

Either way its bogus-so if you have a solution to the problem try helping that person instead of telling me that it won't steal money from their account-cause its does(he he)

Have you actually followed it?

As Vingogly correctly says this will NOT steal account details unless you are stupid enough to give them that information in the first place.

I tried everything but Anti-Virus 2009 wouldn't let me delete it. And the removal tool they put up wouldn't work. I finally gave up and restored my system back to a time before I downloaded this abortion. Good luck, Tom

Sorry I started all these disagreements. Anyway, I downloaded Microsoft one care as suggested by geemarvin. It seems to have stopped the Antivirus download and I no longer see the window invading my computer. However, logging on, that usually (I have cable) is very quick, is now rather slow and I wonder if it's the One Care that's doing it. Also, I've lost Picasa in the process for some reason. I wonder if I do a restore to a date previous to the Spybot download it may solve everything. Any suggestions guys?

OneCare is a known resource hog and it's best to dump it.
After all do you really trust Microsoft to protect itself when it has difficulty producing a secure operating system in the first place?

Do you have an anti virus program on your computer--because windows onecare has one that was included with your download-and the 2 might be cancelling each other out--if you think you don't need onecare anymore-delete it out of your programs by going to your add/delete system and everything should be ok--
