    Will my wife be affected
I have two pending law suits against me for items related to a former employer. Basically I was a GM of a business and authorized purchases and owner never paid so now they are coming after me. My wife has nothing to do with any of these but lawyers are sending her certified letters and including her name. I have asked the people seeking suits to leave her off since she has nothing to do with this. It has caused a real burden on our marriage as a whole. If we were to separate would they leave her alone since it is my problem and not hers.

Well first you can go out and talk to the tree, but that will not help either, of course talking to their attorenys, I bet they really laughed after they hung up the phone.

Your wife has to hire an attorney and file a motion to be taken off, and/or she will present evidence in court that she is not a party of the case.

For you, unless you signed specificly to be personally liable, or unles you were part owner, you can not be held personally liable for a company debt that they owe.

So you hire an attorney and they can not show you are personally liable

It is her problem because she is married to you. Even if you separate they can still go after her. The only way they will stop is if you completely divorce

    Hello yode:

I don't know why you would consider separating... Just cause somebody wants money from you?? Money YOU DON'T OWE??

Write the lawyer a letter. Send it certified, return receipt requested. Tell the lawyer that you were an employee, and that you were NOT responsible for payment. Tell them further that if they take you to court, they will lose.

That's the truth. Most lawyers don't want to spend lots of money trying to collect debts that they aren't authorized to collect and won't collect...
