Unfortunately this is a universal site, so you may get limited referrals, and what referrals you do get may not be what you need.

Please open your yellow pages and make appointments.

This site is sponsored by a group of lawyers as well so we can't give out other names or phone numbers for lawyers. The other thing you can do is call the local bar association to get references.

Call your local Bar Assc. They have refferals but you will need to interview them to find one you can work well with.

Well, our lawyer in MD doesn't really have and contacts in GA. I'm thinking we might have to go to FL since the FL order has not been domesticated in GA yet?? Not sure where to go!

Before you retain counsel you have to find out what State you will be heard in. You can call the Bar Association in any State and ask for specific referrals for specific specialities - such as family law. Not wise to go with a general practitioner.

Well, we have had lawyersin FL, MD and PA all tell us to go through Maryland (the mother lived in PA before GA). But the courts in MD dismissed it??

And what did Maryland say about the appropriate jurisdiction?

I'm trying to get a copy of those documents, but waiting for a call back from my MD lawyer. Can I call the court house and get a copy fax over sooner?

I don't know what's done in Maryland - sometimes (in NY) the Court Clerk can be most helpful; other times, they don't want to know about anything.

You could call and ask - ? The Judge's Clerk might also be able to help you.

The judge stated that GA should have jurisdiction, but he has missed some key points. He said that neither party asked for a hearing. My husband and I asked for two emergency hearings and one hearing about jurisdiction.

Also, the judge thinks that the mother and child have not lived in MD in last year which was false. We file on 08/11/08. The mother has arrests dating back to 08/19/07 on record in the State of MD.

Is it possible for my lawyer to somehow get this case reopened? I'm hoping there is some hope here:confused:
