    Clogged sewer ejector pump
I saw a similar question brought up before. We have a sewer ejector pump (lift station) that has to transfer waste quite a ways across the street. Our pump frequently has issues and we have to have it cleaned 2-3 times a year minimum due to grease, float switch getting stuck and so forth. We now just had to have our pump replaced because a lot of hair burned out the motor this time only two months after we had it cleaned. We have a 1/2 HP pump and 2 inch pipe and a larger home. Do we need to move to a grinder pump and a bigger pit, or is there anything as far as a degreaser/de-clogger that I can regularly send down to the pit to help it stay clean? We do not dump grease down the drain but we always have a pretty good buildup. We are frustrated with all of the money we have to spend on this system. Thanks.

I cannot imagine you run "larger home" on the set up you are describing. How large is your house exactly ? Please, list # of bathrooms, kitchens, laundries etc...

If you run your whole house on sewer ejector than you should have: Dual pump alternating system, with 2 Zoeller 267 pumps, 4 mercury floats ( 2 On switches and 2 OFF switches) and 5th float for alarm. Each discharge will have its own check valve. All this set in no less than 36" diameter fiberglass bucket and/or depending on size of your house. Call Zoeller engineers. They will figure out for you exactly what you need. ( Zoeller Corporation ).

Floats will get trapped when not installed properly.

Additionally: Zoeller has on-line " Sizing Program ". Register with their web site and you will be able to check required capacity of your sewer ejector before you call their engineers..

Let us know how you did..
