Sellect all/caps locked/cut n paste issues windows xp
I recently got this lap top and I notice (maybe because I am accidentally touching a wrong key that all of a sudden the only parts of a paragraph more or less then I wanted become highlighted when I want to cut and paste. Another thing that happens is that the caps all get locked in this strange category where I can't type many of the lower case settings like (123. /) but I can change upper and lower case letters by pressing caps lock. The only way I have been dealing with it now is turning off the computer and turning it on again. This is really frustrating would love some help. I think it is a Compaq computer or Windows XP issue because it effect both typing on the internet, operating system and Word wordprocessing program and as far as I know everything else.

If it happens with any and all applications, then may I suggest you take it to where you bought it and have them look at it. It sounds to me as if the keyboard is defective or there might be something like dirt under a key.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Who knows, it could even be a stupid virus, so do a virus scan before taking it to them. How long have you had the laptop?

Thx. I might have to do that. I was hopping that it was just an accidentally pressed key(s) especially because the curser control (in board mouse like device) often accentally picks up may hand movements. My virus protection says everything is fine.

If it's a new lappy, then you should have some access to toll free support from the mfg. Use it and see if they can tell you what you are doing wrong.

I think I figured it out it seems to be a programed feature called "sticky keys" that I seem to be accidentally seting while typing. To turn it on and off press shift key 5 times quickly. Thanks for the help.

Shoot sometimes this doesn't work either. I may have to breakdown and call customer service and wait on hold if I can't figure this one out...
