    Help
I have a Hampton Bay remote control ceiling fan and with a light fixture. The problem I am having is that I can control the fan with the remote control, but I can not turn the light on or off with the remote control. Is there a sensor or something that is not making contact? What do you think?

Is this an add-on remote kit or built in to the fan? For example, does the fan have pullchains?

The remote is built into the fan. There are no chains or anything to pull on in order to turn on the fan or light. I turn on the fan using a wall switch, then I use the remote control to turn the light and the fan on and off. The weird thing is that I can adjust the fan speed using the remote, but
I can't turn the light on or off. Everything was working well up until a week ago. I have had this fan for over two years.

When you push the light buttons on the remote, does the indicator do anything? The problem is either in the remote or the receiver. Replacing the remote is easy, replacing the receiver is more difficult.

When I press the remote, the light goes on in the remote (signal), but I can't control the off and on option on the light fixture of the ceiling fan. The hand held remote control seems to work well if I want to turn the fan on or off with no problem. I am starting to think the problem is probably in the receiver because the fan acts like it does not recognize that there is a light fixture attached even when I press the light button on the remote. Go Figure?

Is your light fixture coming on at all? I mean, could it be a loose wire or a burned out bulb? If you're sure the problem is with the control, and not with the light itself, it sounds like you have a bad receiver. Your best option at that point is to take the fan back for a replacement under warranty, although you can obtain a replacement receiver from Hampton Bay and replace it yourself.
