Need ID on two paintings bought in Spain
These two paintings were purchased in Spain at the Escorial by my mom. We've had absolutely no luck in tracking the artist or titles down. They may even be elements of a larger painting.

    Hi, Whitley1958!

I'm sorry that no one has yet come along to address your question. I've enhanced your images that you had attached just a bit and placed them in this post so that they're readily visible by anyone who comes along to see them who might have an idea who painted them.

Thanks so much Clough. Actually got excited when I saw you 'cause I thought you might actually have an answer! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

    Thanks, Whitley1958!

My main expertise in the arts is in the performing end of it like music, theater and dance. Although I have a very high interest also in the visual arts. Those areas intertwine and overlap very much!

The two works do seem familiar to me. I don't know from where, though. Maybe because I used to teach a Fine Arts/Cultural Awareness curriculum for a number of years where the main emphasis was music and then coupled historically with arts of just about any other kind.

They would seem to be definitely post-Renaissance in the style primarily because they subjects don't appear to be "flat" but have definition and shading. Beyond that I'll have to do some research...

Since the works are now readily visible on the thread, it will make it easier for someone to see them who might know something about them.

Why do you think they might be elements of a
Larger painting, please? Also, are there no other possible identifying markings on them anywhere at all?

    Thanks!

    Thanks Clough!

No markings whatsoever and the only reason I mentioned the possibility of them being part of a larger painting was because my mother mentioned it to me.

    Thanks for the input thusfar!
