My fiance' was charged as a sex offender when he was 20 years old for having a girl friend who was 16. Her parents got upset and pressed charges. Now he is 25 years old and I am 24 and I have a 4 year old son. My fiance' isn't on probation or is a pervert that people usually think of a sex offender. Everybody trusts him with their kids and he has one of his on that he is very good with. He is a very good father figure in my child's life. I highly doubt the father will try to take my son from me see that he off and on does not pay for child support in the first place... but I really love my fiance' he is really funny he would do anything for me and loves me very much... and it is very hard to find somebody like that these days. Am I OK for marrying him?:confused:

What is his exact status, is he a registered sex offender, was he charged with sat rape of a minor

What is the exact rules for a registered sex offender in your state, is being around your son or other children a violation of that rule.

Yes, that can be used in court as grounds for your child's father to try and get custody.

After hiring lawyers and fighting in court, most likely he will lose, but he can cause you a costly battle.

Ummm it wasn't sat rape I think it was improper conduct with a minor... maybe it's the same thing I don't know... I remember somebody on here talking to somebody else that if he was off probation they really can't do anything about him being with somebody who has a child... personally I think this ruined his life almost and it treats him like he is a rapist or a child molester and he is not. But I think my child's father has so many problems of his own I really don't have to worry about it anyway I'm just stressin lol But yes he is on the offenders list

If he is on a sex offenders list then he shouldn't be around children period!!

If he did something to warrant a conviction and be on a list that's very very serious. So yes you should worry about having him around your child / children. It would give your ex grounds to modify your current custody orders. And he would bewell within his rights to limit any contact between your " boyfriend " and his child.

You really need to reconsider this and maybe drop this one before it comes back to bite you.

I agree with calif. If he is on the registery then you ex will have substantial evidence as to why there should be a modification. I would guess that he is on a ten year notification rather than lifetime notification (I guess this because my husband and I helped my neighbor to put a guy in jail and on the registery for the same thing). If you want to be with him that bad then you will still want to after his registery is up and your kids are grown.
