    Dog not feeling well
My dog up until early evening yesterday has not been feeling good. She has not eaten anything for almost a day but she is drinking water. She is sluggish. Nose is dry but cold. Steady breathing not to hard, her ears twitch like she is cold. She threw up last night and she has been eating leaves from our house plants for some odd reason. We're not sure what is up. She is only 9. This morning we gave her some ham with a pepto-bismol in it but she did not eat that. We also gave her some dog food mixed in with some chicken broth and turned her nose up at it. She is almost going on a day with out eating and that is worrying me the most.

OK, first, unless a vet has okayed it, don't give your dog human meds such as pepto. It can be harmful, and or fatal. I know your intentions are good, but always check with your vet first.
Also, the plants could be part of your dogs problems. Animals normally will not eat stuff that will cause them to be sick, or in pain, but occasionally it does happen. Get the poor girl to a vet, and hopefully they can help.
Let us know how your dog is doing in the next day or two. I hope she feels better

Actually our dogs eat grass almost every morning; I read somewhere there are two reasons. The first is that they think it's a way of introducing some fiber in their diets; and second, they think it's the way dogs can throw up if needed to. It's possible your dog ate something that is upsetting her and she's trying to throw it up, our dogs will eat plastic, or pretty much anything as they aren't fussy.

As long as your dog is drinking water, I would wait a day or two longer and see if it passes and if her hunger hasn't returned I would get her to a vet. If she isn't drinking water, I would get her to a vet as she could dehyrate and that could lead to some serious problems.

We called the vet and they said give her some white rice with a little chicked broth and see what happens. Well she finally ate something and she is felling better. ;) Not sure what the whole problems was but we'll make sure to prevent her from getting into things she should not. BTW, is heart worm meds OK to give her if there a month from their exp date?

Yeah, as said earlier animals eat grass and plants when they feel sick, it CAUSES them to throwup, thus getting rid of what was making them sick, if she doesn't eat soon though, u should definitely take her to a vet.

I have read that many common household plants are very toxic to animals and small children that eat them. Maybe the doggie was trying to eat grass like stuff but ate something not so good for her. Do you know what kind of plants she was eating?
